Idler was not only a replacement but an upgrade. Went on easily and does a better job than the original. Very happy with the whole experience.
So this is my first recumbent. Resurrected from the dead practically the idler assembly that was on there was froze up and nasty looking so replaced it with new and improved model. It looks a whole lot better plus is actually a little lighter than the original. Easy to install and so far I like it.
No pictures in action as now my recumbent goes fast and I can't run fast enough to take a picture of your product in action. I am thus far satisfied with my purchase and look forward to many more years on my recumbent.
The part is well made and was easy to install.
I replaced my old Rands stratus chain idler with this wonderful new product. It is better made than the original for sure. I did have to do some very minor hole enlargement in order to line up properly with the frame boss. They included shim washers to help with orientation. And unfortunately, I didn’t notice the directions until after I attempted to put it on. The process would’ve been easier. Had I read the directions first. All in all great product well-made looks like it will definitely outlast the original.
Fine piece of kit. It's for an older Rans Tailwind. Parts are hard to find. I was ecstatic when I learned that Tera-Cycle still make parts for it. Thank you.

Thanks to Terracycle I was able to pick up a RANS Stratus LE at a great price because the chain management/ idlers were missing. I got the new assy within days of ordering, mounted easily and works great. Terracycle is a great source for 'bent specific parts!

There isn’t a lot of info out there on the Nimbus, but it was the predecessor to the Stratus. Turns out it has the same idler assembly boss pattern as the Stratus, so this new idler assembly worked out great. Very high quality with an amazing attention to detail. I just put the new idler assembly through its paces on a 4-day, 200-mile bike tour from one coast of Florida to the other. Note that for the Nimbus, you need to use a small file to smooth out some inner tabs that the bosses had in them; I believe they’re a slightly smaller diameter so the included bolts do work but only if you file out the tabs. The tabs appear to be a result of the Rans welding process and the smaller bolts on the original assembly weren’t an issue. So get a small round file, be patient, and everything will work out great.
Excellent experience, the idler kit appears to have excellent design, engineering, and execution. Fit perfectly on a Rans Wave I bought used, As I bought it, the top idler had worn through, and the bottom idler had seized. I exchanged emails with T-cycle they were very responsive. After I found that the Wave shared a frame design with the Tailwind, I placed an order and soon had a marvelous piece of kit to install. The idler kit works well, shiftsm runs smooth and quiet. Of course, putting a $120 idler kit on a 20 year old bike that I paid $105 for probably was not terribly wise. I won't mention trying to put an ISO 451 tube into a 406 wheel as being one of my finest moves either.

Installed this kit after my Rans Stratus idlers failed after all these years. The install was a little fiddley but I got it installed OK. Works great the whole chain system works better. Peddling is very smooth now. Should have installed this sooner. Well Done!!

I bought this to replace the broken one on my Rans Stratus standard recumbent. I wasn't sure what to get, but the representative I talked to at Terra Cycle advised me of the correct part I needed. Quieter than the stock idler on my Rans Tailwind and I seem to have a little more power. Pleasantly surprised.
We have 2 rans Stratus bikes. A year ago my wife bought a elite idler kit. She has over 6000 miles on it and it is still going strong. In July 2021 I purchased a sport idler kit but I have only had it on a week. Can't get over how smooth and quite the bike is. Also increase of speed. Love it, so far so good!!! PS. Earlier this year I bought a used Rans Stratus LE, after 4 months one of the rollers in the stock idler split so I went to Terra Cycle and replaced the stock idler set up with a Terra Cycle idler kit. First ride I really noticed a difference and thought my speed had picked up. I ride the same 20+ mile route almost every day with 4 different recumbent bikes and a trike and I record the average gps speed for each ride. I averaged my speed on the Stratus for the first 4 months with the original Idler - average speed was 13.6 mph. I averaged the speed for the next 5 months on the Stratus with the new Terra Cycle Idler - average speed was 14.2 mph. I'm getting a little over a half mph faster because of the new idler. This was a pretty well controlled test. I was really surprised that an idler kit upgrade could make that much difference. (I posted this to BROL)
Like most owners of vintage Rans bikes, my return idler came apart after 13+ years of riding. While I could've just replaced that idler, I knew the other one probably wasn't far behind. So I got this kit. Didn't have too much trouble getting it on. From the get-go, my drive train was smoother, QUIETER, silkier, with a slight but noticeable increase in efficiency...fe-lt like I picked up a few watts of power. Had a prob with the chain wanting to jump out of the teeth in the power idler when I was on the big ring on the front, and the biggest sprocket (32T) on the back. Leaving aside the obvious, that this is a dumb combo to use in the 1st place, I contacted T/C. They were very helpful in brain storming. Upshot...at some point I need to remove the spacer washers, try moving it inward a few mm. But even as is, this is a very worthwhile improvement that will probably last for the life time of my Stratus...or me. Whichever comes 1st. T/C are a very honorable group of folks, who will definitely get my return business!
The Rans Stratus idler wheels were breaking every so often and when I added an electric conversion it became more frequent. The Rans wheels were small and had a seam where a crack would always occur. The TerraCycle idler kit is working great and given the design and materials used I have a strong feeling it will last as long as the bike. The only complaint was the installation instructions. I just reversed the process of taking the Rans idler off.
What a great addition to my Rans LE Status as an increase in my speed by approx. 20-25%!! Highly recommend this idler kit. I am still amazed at the difference it makes on the power curve!
What a great product! I purchased a used 2003 Rans Tailwind and set about replacing the worn out Idler system. I was really not pleased with the original configuration from the manufacturer. This kit is the perfect addition and has proven to be an effective and impressive solution. I have about 100 miles on it now and the system is solid, quiet and just plain works. I think the chain will last longer - and it feels like power transfer has improved too. Add to that the fast delivery from the TerraCycle folks and I am very pleased with this purchase.
