This T-Cycle made Battery Mount for Suspended ICE Trikes comes with a shelf drilled to allow the mounting of many different batteries. Batteries are dense and difficult to carry. This mount lets you attach your battery to your ICE trike down low and out of the way. In fact, it lets you put the battery so out of the way that you can fold the trike with the battery attached! Down low is important for handling and stability—you don't want something as heavy as a battery on top of a rear rack. If you have been struggling with how to carry your battery, this elegant, simple solution is what you've been looking for!
1. Why do I need a special battery mount?
Batteries are heavy, so it's best to carry them down low and in a place that won't affect handling. A rear rack or seatback bag are not good solutions- the battery is up higher than it should be, and it tends to be awkward when it's time to fold or transport your trike. This mount is designed to have the rigidity to securely hold your battery, while not interfering with your seat, suspension, rear rack, or the ability to fold your trike. An electric drive is a big investment, and how to properly hold the battery is an important consideration. It was not easy to design this mount, there are not a lot of places a battery can go where everything works.
2. How does it attach?
It attaches with a special mount through the suspension pivot, along with a stabilizing attachment up at the rack mount near the seatback adjustment. The suspension pivot is very strong, and is a great place to attach something heavy like a battery. We supply spacers for the rack attachment point that work with or without a rear rack in place.
3. Can I still fold my trike?
Yes, the battery winds up on top, just ahead of the rear hinge.
4. Is it strong enough?
My battery is pretty heavy. Yes, the attachment mechanism and the mount itself are designed to carry batteries weighing up to 20 lbs (9kg).
5. Is ICE OK with this?
This mount is the result of extensive thought and prototyping involving ICE and Icletta, our EU distributor and the ICE distributor for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This mount has been in use in Europe for 3 years; we haven't introduced it more broadly until now because we have been production capacity limited.
Attachment is straightforward and only takes a few minutes. The first step is to attach the main support arm to the suspension pivot.
The main support arm goes inside the suspension pivot tube on the right (drivetrain) side of the trike. Remove the 8mm bolt and cap from the arm and insert the arm inside the pivot tube. The arm and the cap have shims to work with the different tube IDs ICE has used over the years. The largest shims come preinstalled on the arm and cap. If they fit inside the tube, use them. If not, try the next size down, and if that is still too large, use no shim at all.
Once the arm is properly fitted inside the pivot tube, configure the cap to the same size and install it from the other side. Position the arm so the outer end is parallel to and underneath the power side chain tube. Tighten the 8mm bolt that holds the cap.
Next, attach the vertical plate to the support arm. Rotate the plate so the slot at the top lines up with the rack attachment point. If you have a rear rack, use the short spacer and bolt to attach to the threaded hole in the rack attachment point. If you don't have a rear rack, insert the threaded bushing into the empty 8mm hole in the rack attachment, then use the long spacer and bolt to attach to that.
Attach your battery. The mount comes drilled and tapped for Ansmann or BionX batteries, and you can easily adapt other battery systems. Batteries designed to be strapped to a rack can be strapped to the shelf and/or the vertical plate. The shelf and plate are designed to be drilled for additional mounting holes if needed.

The battery mount i ordered for my ICE trike came packaged very well and was easy to install. From start to finish it took about half an hour. T CYCLE is a good company to buy quality accessories for your trike.

I ordered an "After June 2015" mount for a suspended, folding 2016 ICE Sprint X. I didn't read the installation instructions. I just viewed the photos, and test fitted the various upper spacers provided in the kit to identify the right one. The Sprint's rear idler prevented installation of the mount, so I had to remove it and extend the upper chain tube 6 Inches. Afterwards, the mount fit the Sprint perfectly and the battery shelf was parallel to the ground. The mount is very sturdy. I installed a 52v 20ah battery on it.

I liked the battery mount but in order to get the proper slant on the battery I had to add a spacer between the battery mount and the battery base to get my desired slant forward. I am installing this mount on a 2012 ICE Adventure FS Recumbent trike.

I’m disappointed that what is on your website is incorrect. This part will not fit a 2008 ice trike battery mount. The website stated prior to 2015 but apparently 2008 is too old? My project is dead in the water until I solve this issue and I need to return this part and either have a real solution or else I’ll have to go elsewhere. I’ve had great experiences with your company so I guess I’m truly surprised this will not work as stated

Once installed beautiful. Some difficulty installing top stabilizing arm. No detailed diagram, pictures or video. T-cycle is responsive and gave a lot of help via email. Felt bad taking two days to misunderstand installation but T-Cycle stuck with me. I finally gave up and installed replacement Quick Release skewer with a longer one.

Works well as described. Online directions are much better than the directions that came in the product package. Needed to find washers in my parts' drawer to get the proper spacing at the rack attachment point. Attached the bracket to a 2011 Ice Adventure FS+ to support a down tube battery.

Lovely company to deal with, excellent customer service. The product is well made and fits my ICE Sprint trike very well though not perfectly as my trike has a rear luggage rack so had to adapt the fitting a little to fit.

VERY high build quality, extremely good fit and easy to install. A bit pricey, but looking at the custom machine work and its price makes sense.

I ordered the wrong generation of the part. They helped me by sending the right part and returning the wrong one with no issue. The part fits well. The quality is exceptional. The company is exceptional.

I would never been able to build this incredible battery holder on my own but I sure could install it easily. So happy with all the T-Cycle products I have on my trikes now. New T-Cycle chains, flags, Cockpit Mini T to mount computer & thumb throttle, Ice trike battery mount. Without EcoCycle's electric kits with plug together wire harnesses and T-Cycle and making these great specialty products I would never attempted to electrify my trike which has saved me so much money and made my wife and I so happy on our biking adventures.

The part I ordered was slow to get here due to supply problems, but when I sent an email. I got an answer right away. and as I sorted out the parts tech answered each question the the very next day.

There are two sets of bushings included for the suspension pivot--neither one of which fit. I used a bench sander to thin the main one on the battery side and tape for the far side one. Further, there was not a correct length bolt for the tip of the mount using the short spacer--one too short, one too long. Fortunately I had the correct size on hand. Attention to fitment detail is important and there were two failures in this kit which would have precluded a successful installation. The picture shows battery shelf mounting spacers and screws. There were none. Again, I had some on hand but most will not.

Great as usual.

Recently upgraded my trike by adding a Bafang BBS02 kit. This bracket fit perfectly on my rear suspension arm without adding a lot of excess bulk. Battery is securely mounted low and doesn't rattle when I hit bumps in the road. I did have to buy spare M5 bolts (forgot to look for those before placing my order). Will definitely be looking for more accessories in the future.

Easy to install works well but I had to make spacers, posted photo on Bentrider

This mount fits perfectly onto the ICE rear frame, at it's strongest point, and placing the weight really low.
