Many bikes and trikes are equipped from the factory with 170mm or 175mm cranks. These are great for the long-legged or those of us with super human kneecaps, but for most people, they are just too long. Easy Knees Crank shorteners allow you to effectively shorten your crank arm length and experiment to find out how much shorter works for you. Crank shorteners can also be used to accommodate legs of different lengths.
If your legs are the same length, but maybe your knees aren't as good as they used to be, a shorter crank arm can help alleviate some of the strain.
These crank shorteners are designed for use by adults and for use with modern cranks with curvy, shaped arms. The unique design of the side anchors makes them both very strong and able to handle any crank size and shape, even really wide or really curved ones. The side anchors that lock to the crank are super heavy duty to handle adult pedaling loads and have a very wide (22 to 44mm) adjustment range. The adjustment is both simple and very positive. This feature is what drove us to make crank shorteners. No other crank shortener can handle the range of crankarms or pedaling forces that these can.
If you have one bad knee or have limited range of motion in just one leg, check out our Easy Knees Pedal Swing. It is designed to help you find the right pedal stroke for each leg instead of compromising on a single adjustment that doesn't truly fit either leg. With a pedal swing, even though both legs are the same length, they can each have different range of motion.

I had a total knee replacement (TKR) on Jan 9, 2026 and was eager to get back on my bike. Imagine my joy when I was told that I needed to cycle 20 minutes a day for physical therapy. Imagine my sorrow when I just couldn't make an entire rotation of the pedals. I'm not a stranger to crank-arm shorteners, having used them on my tandem for my then pre-teen children, so they could be my stoker. But that was 20 years ago, and I not only had killed those brain cells, but I also didn't connect the dots on how crank-arm shorteners could help me. Then my brother, who had been a bicycle mechanic in his college days, told me what he used to do to help his clients with bad knees (drill and top the crank arm...). Then it all clicked into place and I'm now a very happy camper, cycling my way to TKR recovery. Thanks!
Put these on my TACX NEO smart bike. So many people are looking for ways to shorten cranks on these bikes. These are a perfect fit to the Crank arm. Well made and sturdy. Fast to put on. Was concerned that the ride would feel different with the feet slightly further away from bike. Still works well and so much better for my knees. hope other TACX owner find their way here.
I fractured my femur Nov 1. Had surgery Nov 2. Knee bend is not coming back. These crank shorteners enable me to pedal my bike on the trainer.

Great addition, now I can pedal with correct foot placement due to my total knee replacement and limited range of motion. Does change the Q Factor a bit (wider)
I used the device for the first time today on a rental bike while traveling. My bike at home has short cranks on both sides. I have a stiff knee on only my left side and I worried that shortening only one side would be a problem but it felt totally natural and normal. It was easy to put on and take off later when I returned the bike at the end of the rental.
Shattered both legs a long time ago, and only now have purchased a Recumbent Trike for exercise & fun. Felt the 170mm crank arms were to long, resulting in rocking of my hips and not able to have full compression of my knees at the top of the stroke... easy words: I needed shorter crank arms. Factory FSA crank/arms were not available in the sizing I felt I needed and didn't want to spend big bucks to change bb, crank & arms. Enter these Easy Knees adapters. Fit & finish is Awesome! Easy to install & center up on both crank arms, and now I'm ripping around on 145mm equivalent crank. I've checked the tightness of the adapters several times, and they are tight & steady. Almost 150 miles on them now, and gotta say it's one of the better bike item-related purchases I've ever made. Several folks have inquired about these adapters on the Monon Trail & Cardinal Greenway here in Central Indiana. Thanks !!!

I bought the swing crank and if you see my review for that then you’ll realise this is an integral part, it’s a game changer and has made a massive difference to my life. If you love cycling, static or on the road or trail and you have restricted joint movement in your hips, knees and ankles this is your answer. One of my best purchases ever!! The easy knees crankshaft shorteners work as I thought they would, but I'm having other problems right now and can't do pictures at the moment 😒 .

After knee replacements I had less than 90%bend in one leg and only about 100% in the other. Using a recumbent exercise bike was impossible. By adding these knee savers to my exercise bike I can now enjoy cycling miles. Their support staff was amazing, helping me determine what brand of equipment would handle the knee savers. I would highly recommend.
Got me riding again - even with degenerative arthritis in both knees! Install was super easy - hardest part was getting the pedals off that Hercules himself must have installed!
It all functions as expected. There is a strange clicking sound some times while riding. Is this a problem?
I had both knees replaced, so I couldn’t ride my stationary bike anymore, but now with the crank shorters, I’m able to ride my stationary bike again

I'm giving three stars at this point. I have installed it (directions and pictures could be a little clearer), but have been unable to test it out. Even with the shortener and my ability to bend my knee far enough, it still feels uncomfortable and somewhat painful while bending. So, I am nervous about getting out on the actual bike. I probably need a bike with crank arms/pedals that are positioned more in front of the seat.

Easy to install and works great. My wife had knee replacement surgery and never was able to get enough range of motion to ride her bike. We purchased a recumbent tricycle and installing this crank shortened allows her to pedal without stress and having her foot slip off the pedal. She is having so much fun riding again.
Easy install, i have a set of bikesmith shortened cranks on my trike for several years and love them. Ive tossed around the idea of putting a set on my P38 but until recently i thought i didnt need them. Rides up to 15-ish miles i was ok, anything more and i was getting a dull knee pain, sometimes left side sometimes the right. Played around with cleat adjustment and boom extension for 6months and had the same results. Got a pair of the knee savers, excellent quality, 5min install. So far 3 30mile rides in and i feel great, no loss of power, knees are happy again. I

Easy to set up. I had a TNR and have battled with range of motion. On a stationary bike i can do it but on my mountain bike it was difficult to make the rotation at the top . If i hit a bump and the suspension dipped and my bad knee was on top of the rotation it was painfull -almost launched me off the bike. With the adjustable crank arm length item i was able to shorten the crank arm length to where i was comfortable and able to ride. It feels natural and smooth . Dont even know its there. I dont leave comments on products but this product was such a game changer i had to - hoping it also helps someone else that loves biking and wants to return to it safely . 5+ stars!!!
I have range of motion issues due to terrible knees. Solved my problem quite nicely in the fact that there are multiple crank length options, hopefully I will improve over time to the point that I can move from the shortest length step by step back toward full travel. Before ordering these I had "guessed" at the crank length I needed and was shopping for them when I ran across your product. I bought them and learned that my "guess" was incorrect and I would have needed to purchase different cranks again and agin till I got it right. . I would recommend these to others. If I were to complain about anything it wouuld be that the left one backs loose occasionally so I carry a couple tools when I ride.

Because of a problem of restricted range of motion with one of my knees, I use short (127mm) cranks on my bike at home . But when traveling, I use these devices when I rent a bike. They work great, but they add a lot of weight to my luggage. I wish they were lighter.

Game changer for my knees & legs!
I installed it in 15 minutes and was able to ride my bike for the first time since a knee replacement 1 1/2 miles . I shared the data sheet with my Doc. I gained 4 degrees of movement after the second ride of 2 1/2 miles.
