This is only the mounting hardware, the fairing is sold separately.
The WRNS Long Wheelbase Mount is the the brother of the WRNS Long Wheelbase Fairing (check out the complete kit here). The hardware mounts with stainless steel lower mounting arms, (optional Minoura clamps available for forks without fairing bosses) and lightweight Multi-Purpose Clamps that attaches to your handlebars. Vibrations are isolated at the top and bottom to make your ride smoother and view clearer. The mount comes with everything you need to start mounting right away!
- This kit fits 'T' handlabars where there is a central mast that comes up with the handlebars mounted to the end of the mast. Many RANS, Lightfoot, Burley, etc. use this type of mast and handlebar.
- This is as opposed to 'Chopper Style' or 'U' handlebars, where the handlebars are in a big U shape. Many Easy Racers, and some RANS bikes have chopper style handlebars.
- Mounting block for upper fairing mount has cable tunnels for cables coming down the handlebar mast
- Mounting block for upper fairing mount includes shims to fit all known handlebar mast sizes.
My problems had nothing to do with the quality of the fairing or mount; both very high quality. I have a 2000 Rans Stratus whose tiller mast diameter (1") and control cable placement is different than the current Rans models, hence Cateye clamps arrived that were to large. Terracycle sent me replacement smaller clamps for free as soon as I let them know. The rest of my difficulties were physical. Arthritic hands slowed the installation but I finally succeeded. I wear size 13 EEEE bike shoes with a crooked leg and stiff knee from previous injuries that cause my right foot to interfere with the fairing when turning. I've done what I can to move the fairing higher by adjusting the Minoura fork mounts and adding some rubber spacers to the Cateye clamps holding the plate and upper arm. I had to remove the speed sensor on the fork which fell apart due to its 21 year age. Planet Bike seems to be the only manufacturer of a replacement computer with a 160cm wire for a long wheel base recumbent. I have the wire and bracket installed but the first Protoge' 9.0 Computer is defective. I have another on order from Amazon. If it fails I'll send it back and order multiples until I get one that works. Free returns are great. I'm sure I have diminished the interference problem with my changes. I had much worse problems with a ZZIPPER fairing and I ended up just learning to change my riding style.
The fairing mount fit perfectly, had all the hardware I needed and the instructions were very clear and helpful.
the fairing for the t handle steering bar solved majorly the wobble in the steering of the burley koomsah. It tightened the flimsily clevis and tightened up the steering. The fairing is remarkably aerodynamic as well and coasts about 40% further on a flat run.
This mount supports my new fairing very well. Much better than the old version I used. Screws are easy to adjust near the upper fairing. The lower devices that connects fairing to bike are a bit more difficult to attach. T-Cycle built me a terrific Fairing and they are great people!
